February Blog Round-Up – 9 Great Mommy and Daddy Blogs
Today I am going to try something new . . . There are several blogs out there that I enjoy reading when I have the time so I thought, why not share them with others.
Funny thing is that most of the blogs I read are written by mommy bloggers. While there are a growing number of daddy bloggers out there, most of what I stumble upon are written by women. Even if I am unable to completely relate to a mommy blogger, truth is that experiences we share when raising children are mostly the same whether you are a mommy or a daddy. So, in effort to stop before I get to touchy-feely, here is a list of my favorite mommy and daddy blogs in no particular order. By no means is this list complete – perhaps I will put a list up every month or so . . .
- His Boys Can Swim – Yes, it is what you think. Though the site has only been around since December of ‘08, it is gaining popularity rather quickly. It features husband and wife bloggers Tarzan and Jane who take turns contributing. As with most blogs I like, they offer a great sense of humor with each dose of reality.
- Musings of a Barefoot Foodie – Two things I can always relate to – kids and food. I keep hoping that the more I read Brittany’s writing, perhaps some of her wit will seep in and I will be able to inject more humor into my writing.
- Really Bad Parenting Advice – No, it’s not just a witty, ironic name. Writer “Father Knows Worst” really does give horrible advice. But, holy crap, it’s funny! When having a bad day with my boys, I can just take a look at the latest post and realize that I am not doing so bad.
- At Home Mom Blog – This one is a great resource for you parents that also attempt to work from home while taking care of your children. Genesis provides some great content and resources to make working from home easier.
- Dad Labs – Great site that addresses the social shift of a father’s role in his kid’s life. Not a traditional blog as such – they market themselves as an “information and entertainment” company that caters to the father/child relationship. Awesome site with lots of content, video, forums, etc.
- Diary of a Modern Matriarch – She says she likes “dirty martinis. And my kids. And husband, puppy, and cat. Oh yeah, and my career. Not necessarily in that order. Kinda depends on the day.” Some days, I am sure, it would be nice to put the martinis first.
- Musings of a Housewife – Somehow, Jo-Lynne is able to talk about everyday things and make them compelling. I also appreciate that she is unappologetically Christian – Yay God!
- Rookie Moms – “More Fun Than Wiping Someone’s Tushy” – Nuff said.
- Absolutely Bananas – Lets face it – the reason why we read personal/family blogs is to see just how crazy other’s lives are as a source for comparison. It is also great to laugh at anothers expense which is why I love reading Jen’s blog.

Ok, a little late to the game here . . . this post didn`t show up in my trackbacks for some reason. Thanks for the link and I`m off to check out these other websites!
