A recent conversation with my toddler

*Daddy busily cutting up a large pork roast into smaller sections*
Vinny: Daddy, what’s that?
Daddy: It’s pork.
Vinny: I don’t like pork.
Daddy: Oh, do you like bacon?
Vinny: Yeah I like bacon! (DUH!)
Daddy: Well, bacon is pork too, it comes from a pig.
Vinny: No, it comes from chicken. And bananas come from cows.
Daddy: . . .
Vinny: And oatmeal comes from books.

I think Vinny has a career ahead of him as the Secretary of the Dept. of Agriculture. You know, they really need a dose of fresh air and he seems like just the guy to bring it. Creative re-labeling of food products might be the engine that drives this economy to the promised land. Think of all the business that would generate for White-Out companies and packaging makers…
I agree – though isn’t it odd that we both think that a toddler would be able to out-think what we assume are the brightest minds in our country!?
I would think it more odd (a toddler outhinking the brightest minds) if we had a different administration over the past 8 years… : )
