Am I doing any good?

It started with the best intentions and plans. . .

I was to quit the normal 9-5 job and stay at home with Vincent.  In my spare time I would start an enormously profitable home business that would allow the lifestyle we wanted and enable my wife to quit her job within a few months.

That was about 3 years ago – we now have 2 children and my wife still works.  We are in no better financial situation than we were back then.  My business has undergone many changes but, as of yet, is still unable to provide the income needed to allow Mary to quit her job.  Oh, and we are expecting our third child.

The pressures of growing a business, raising 2 children, and working from home have been 10 times more than expected.  There are times that I think my boys would have been better off having a sitter . . . but I feel like things have changed for the best.  After a series of “almost there’s” , my business is at a place where we are poised take things to the next level.  I know that if I just keep digging, there will be gold at the end of the tunnel.  Soon – all these issues and feelings of inadequacy will be a thing of the past, something to look back on with pride, knowing that we survived because of our family and faith.

So today I established a new goal – when Mary leaves work before the birth of our third child in April, it will be for the last time.  My goal is to have grown the business to a point to compensate for the loss of income from Mary quitting her job and give us more than enough cushion to begin setting new goals for our future.

  1. congrats, good luck. gpa

  2. There is nothing more challenging that starting your own business and raising a new family. Take it from one who has been there!

Keep the faith. Your efforts will pay off. (But what you may find along the way is that the monetary part of it isn’t the most important thing you’ll do.)

  3. Having to go back to work after having our first child and having to put the baby in daycare has been such a hard thing. I hope that you guys are able to live the dream of both being home with the kids. I would love to be able to do the same!
