Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

Where the rubber hits the, um, walls

Its already starting - my son is turning into a man. At a mere 20 months old he already emits a Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor series of grunts with each passing of a motorcycle or large truck. One of his favorite things to do? Riding on grampa’s tractor . . .

Short of buying him his own payloader or scraper, I do let him (occasionally) watch shows on TV featuring such large, off the road equipment. This of course is at my own (and that of my 6 month old) peril. For some reason, upon watching these shows, Vinny feels the need to push around his cars and crash into things (the walls, doors, Simon, me, etc.). The funniest thing the other day - he actually pretended that one of the tires where broken. After ramming the car into the bedroom door a few times, he pushes it back to me and says “tire, fix, tire.”

Now I have a problem - this is a highly specialized, large piece of equipment (plastic car big enough for him to ride). I had no idea where to buy off the road tires for massive machinery, until now. I checked out BuyBigTires.com who specializes in new, used, and recapped tires for construction, transport, and other specialized applications. You can search for tires by application, condition, and brand and obtain OTR tire specifications.

Something else I found was the price . . . at up to $119 THOUSAND dollars we may have to put one on lay-away. I reckon if I put 10% down and pay a comfortable $180 per month, I should be able to take delivery in about 50 years! On second thought, maybe I will just buy him a new plastic car.
