Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

The light at the end of the tunnel

Make no mistake of it - I love both of my children and I think its awesome to have two little boys so close together (20 months and 6 months). Its fun to think that when my oldest, Vinny, thinks back to his childhood he will likely only remember having a little brother. He probably wont remember being an only child or perhaps a feeling of being replaced when the new one came along - for this I am grateful.

HOWEVER - I am sooo tired of diapers. Having two in diapers not only stinks up the whole house on occasion (small house, but its still gross), but it is ridiculously expensive. And I only buy the cheap stuff - Wal Mart generic works great. On any given week, diapers and wipes usually represent 30% of our grocery budget and, now that they are both in the same size diapers (sort of) it costs more per diaper.

Tonight marked a night that is the beginning of the end (thankfully) for Vinny in diapers. I was ecstatic and singing right along with the musical potty as he sat there stunned. He peed on the potty for the first time tonight and I don’t know if I am happy or sad. On one hand I am obviously happy because I know, soon, that there will be one less butt to wipe (for now, who knows when the next baby will come). However, a part of me is sad because this is yet another sign that my baby is getting older and needing less from me.
