My favorite SNL sketch of all time - D$ck In A Box
Posted on September 7, 2007 in the Ranting category
I have been a casual fan of Saturday Night Live for many years now - they have had good years and not so good years. Its not that I watch every Saturday but at least once a month I will see an episode.
I’ve been rather disappointed lately (last 2 years) that nearly every show is opened with a political sketch of some sort. Usually they are picking on the current administration to some extent . . . whatever, its all the same recycled punchlines for the last 5 years anyways so its not really funny at all (no matter what your political perspective).
Last December I was quite surprised (in a good way) at the episode starring Justin Timberlake. Not really a fan of his historically, I did not have high expectations for the show but, holy cow, that guy is frickin funny! The sketch/ Digital Short he did with Andy Samberg had me in a ball laughing and crying at the same time. I included it at the end of the post just for kicks (Rated PG - 13).
Funny thing is that its up for an EMMY of all things! It’s in the Original Music and Lyrics category - That would be great if it wins. I think the primary reason why this episode was so funny and popular was its originality which, I think, has been lacking.
