Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

Made it in record time

I actually got my butt up this morning in time to get to the mountain by 6am. It was my full intention to start hiking up in the dark but my fear got the best of me and decided to wait until I no longer needed a flash light. Here is the shot from the parking lot just as the sky was beginning to lighten. I suppose I would have been more daring if someone else was with me. Somewhere I got the idea in my head that bears could be around so I didn’t was to go alone. Speaking of which, every few minutes I would clap and make a racket just to be sure I didn’t catch one by surprise.

These next couple of pictures I took just as the sun was peaking through the trees - I missed the sunrise by about a half hour. Funny thing is I would have made it in time if I wasn’t chicken. I will have to try again with someone with me.
I took the Boulder Loop trail this time - I had only been up here one time before and I used the main trail so I was looking to try something different. I heard this one was a bit more challenging and I have to admit they are right. While most of it is rather tame there is a half mile or so section that is like the following picture. The next set of pictures are from the summit and are taken of the north and northeast. This is such a great quick climb with tremendous views all around. I am happy to say that I made it up in one hour to the minute - not bad considering I was hoping to beat an hour and a half and the first time I climbed it took 2.5 hrs. Not sure but I may do it again tomorrow morning if my kids let me get to bed on time tonight!
