In theory

In theory, tomorrow morning I am going to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to go hiking. This isn’t the big trip my friend and I are going on at the end of the month - I just got new hiking boots and need to break them in. Based on several reviews and personal recommendation from my brother in law, I bought the Asolo Fugitive GTX. They are classified as a light backpacking boot good for day trips of 10-15 miles and perhaps a weekend trip - either way probably overkill for what I will be doing with them for now.
I am going to make a sunrise trip up Mt. Major which is about 15 minutes from here. In theory (there it is again) I will be getting up at 4am(ish)in expectation that I will be at the summit in time to watch the sunrise. It is a quick hike - just a 3.8 mile round trip and the summit is at 1786 feet. This is far from the 4060 feet of Mt. Passaconaway that Dave, his wife Tara, and I will be doing next weekend but it will be a good warm up and break in. For being a relatively small mountain the views are great - the summit is all rock with a 360 degree view of surrounding mountains and of Lake Winnipesaukee. I have hiked it once before a few months ago and was able to get up in just over 2 hours - with 30 lbs of baby and gear on my back (and I was 20 lbs heavier too). My goal for this trip is to make it up in 1.5 hrs or less - I don’t think its out of the realm of possibility.
Afterwards I have some mysteryshopping assignments in the area which makes it a good excuse to get up an out on time. If you are interested in doing some mystery shopping just visit this site and contact me and I will send you more information.
I will post pics tomorrow afternoon I hope!
