Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

Cuddle, Cuddle!

Posted on September 6, 2007 in the Parenting, Stay At Home Dad category

My son has become a master of social engineering. At 20 months he knows what he wants and, if it is something he cannot get on his own, he knows that he needs to employ an adult to make it happen.

A couple weeks ago, Vincent learned that is he asks for a “cuddle” then any adult within earshot will come running with arms wide open to scoop him up. It is from this vantage point that he is able to get to whatever object he desires. It also didn’t take long for me to realize that he usually doesn’t actually want a cuddle . . . there is usually something else involved.

This trick has worked well for him when he is in trouble or I tell him that he needs a diaper, etc. He also figured out that he can have access to the computer if he stands next to me while I am working (blueberry eyes staring back) begging for a cuddle. Soon after I pick him up he goes straight to work whacking the keyboard. a;sdki023klnsvlnl;
