Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

Pick a catchy domain name in 2 simple steps.

Although it is an assumption on my part, one would think that most single word domain names have long been snapped up my eager entrepreneurs or by domain parking (a.k.a. squatters) with dollar signs in their eyes. So how should the aspiring web mogul come up with the domain name for his/her new multi-billion dollar empire?

Well, I think I have picked up on a pretty simple formula that is a fool proof way to come up with your own personal cash cow.

Here it is - don’t blink or you will miss it!

Random Verb + Random Noun = Killer Domain Name

Do not be fooled by the simplicity of this equation - using it will give you a catchy domain name that is easily branded. Using actual dictionary terms - not some random made up word - makes it easier for someone to reference your site in conversation (Have you ever tried to say “Quincunx.com” before?).

As a general rule of thumb, keep your words between 3-6 letters; any smaller and you are less likely to find a winning combination, any larger and the domain name just gets too long. Try doing a Google Search for “random word generator” or look for “four letter word lists,” etc., for fresh word ideas.

As a final note - keep in mind that, though it may be beneficial, it is not always necessary to come up with a combination that has anything to do with the content of your website.
