Adventures Of A Stay At Home Dad

Just trying to balance two little boys and my sanity . . .

On music and feelings . .

Ok - while I usually do not get all touchy - feely about things, my post the other day about music got me thinking.

I am sure most people have a decent amount of music - whether on CD or MP3 or whatever, I would guess that most of it does not get played often. If you are like me, I get attached to a certain band or artist for a while and that is pretty much all I listen to. It could be for months at a time that I will listen to the same 3 or 4 CDs.

As time passes, I end up getting reacquainted with a CD that I haven’t listened to for years . . .perhaps I heard a song on the radio and it reminded me that I own the CD or it could just be as seasons change, I end up changing my music too. Its funny/strange to listen to something that I haven’t listened to for a while because all of the feelings and memories come back, just as if it were last week. Certain CD’s or artists remind me of past milestones and achievements as well as feelings surrounding sad times or times of uncertainty. The soundtracks of past summers remind me of old friends and getting into mischief while there are CDs I own that, no matter how much I like the group, I avoid listening to because of the anxiety that returns due to the circumstances of the past.

Thats about it - perhaps if I were a better writer I wouldn’t have to end my posts so abruptly ;)
