Minneapolis Bridge Collapse is George W. Bush’s Fault

In a move of stunning small-mindedness and pure partisanship, Senate Democrat Harry Reid of Nevada (along with cohorts such as Dick Durbin of Illinois & others) placed blame for the Minneapolis bridge collapse square on the shoulders of President George W. Bush.
To me, this is just another case of the Democrats utilizing their free publicity equation:
National, International, or local crisis + Blame Bush = Free media coverage of whatever pork legislation they wish to pass through congress
So what Reid is looking to promote this time is his “American Marshall Plan” which is described as an investment in the deteriorating American infrastructure. Presumably this is named after the original Marshall Plan where $13 Billion or more was spent on helping European countries recover from WWII - perhaps a poor attempt at a not-so-subtle comparison between the U.S. and Iraq.
“Since 9/11, we have taken our eye off the ball,” Reid said.
You are so very right Mr. Reid - we should have been laser focused on predicting some freak occurrence to 1 bridge out of over 600,000 bridges in the United States. Victims and families of victims should be outraged at the political posturing gained from the blood of their misfortune.
I understand that this bridge was part of the Interstate Highway System and, as such, receives federal funding, however as with most interstate highways, they are owned, built by, and operated by the state. This tells me that upkeep is the domain of the state in which the road is located.
Sorry Senator Reid, looks like you will have to refocus your finger pointing elsewhere.
