Mainstream media strikes again

Posted on August 30, 2007 in the Uncategorized category

I, unapologetically, hold the mainstream media in fairly low regard. Though I may speak in glittering generalities, the ideal of impartial journalism seems to be completely lost on them. In addition to rejecting the notion that I may be an amateur journalist, I would not even call myself a writer. The only difference between me and them is that they hide the fact that they have an agenda whereas I am fully upfront with mine.

In what appears to be the status quo, Saul Hansell of the New York Times apparently checked his journalistic integrity at the door with his most recent article “Misgivings Spoil Plans of Start-Up.” In the article, Hansell proceeds to dig up the past of Armand Rousso as means of explaining the unexpected withdrawal of an underwriter for an IPO that Rousso is a part of.

The Armand Rousso response to NYT story by Saul Hansell points out Hansell’s misstatements and labels them “irrelevant.” Hansell pointed to “recent legal problems” that may have pushed the deal awry. Not only were these issues settled nearly a decade ago and are a matter of public record, but they were fully disclosed and it was before Rousso was part of the IPO. Hansell then tries to connect him to illegal campaign contributions for Senator Torricelli in 1996 but Rousso was never charged with improper conduct. Rousso also refutes the claim that his would-be wife was paid $1.4 million dollars as the company’s chief operating officer for the 15 months prior to their marriage. Finally, Hansell incorrectly proclaimed that Rousso was paid $3 million in the last three years yet that income was actually paid to Rousso’s international strategic planning and business development firm.

Rousso has admitted to past wrong-doings and has paid his debt to society. He perceives Hansell’s message inflexible towards second chances. His only wish is to have his response printed in the Times so people can get the entire story.
